It is administered by a board consisting of\u00a0seven members appointed for their expertise in education and assessment.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The work of the Authority is supported by a secretariat.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The School Curriculum and Standards Authority is responsible\u00a0for<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Setting standards of student achievement and for the assessment and certification of student achievement according to those standards<\/li>\n<li>Developing an outline of curriculum and assessment in schools that, taking account of the needs of students, sets out the knowledge, understanding, skills, values and attitudes that students are expected to acquire and guidelines for the assessment of student achievement<\/li>\n<li>Developing and accrediting courses for schools<\/li>\n<li>Maintaining a database of information relating to\n<ul>\n<li>The participation by students during their school years in education, training or employment as provided by the <em>School Education\u00a0Act 1999<\/em><\/li>\n<li>The achievement of students during those years<\/li>\n<li>Records of assessment in respect to students.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The School Curriculum\u00a0and Standards Authority complies with the Western Australian Government&#8217;s Public Sector Standards.
